CRUISING VACAY

We started our vacay with a night at Southwest Yacht Club across the channel from us. Not exactly cruising, but it was a totally relaxing way to begin our 10 day trip.  Bright and early the next morning we untied Scrimshaw's docklines and headed down San Diego Bay to Coronado island, where we anchored for 3 days of swimming heaven.
A convenient swimming beach off our stern, and a good spot for Spark to run too.
The beach is busy on the weekends, but pretty much ours on the weekdays.
Our view towards the Coronado Yacht Club and "The Del".
The Del Coronado Hotel, is worthy of a visit.
And its just as pretty at sunset.
The view from inside Scrimshaw is pretty darn good too!
The next day, Darrell got caught up on a pending boat sale.
"Walking" Sparky is another one of his duties.
Glorietta Anchorage is small and has space for only 11 boats,
by Monday only a few boats are left, and it becomes serene.

After 3 peaceful nights, calm offshore seas promised to make for a lovely 72 mile crossing to Avalon Harbor on Santa Catalina Island. We were headed for a few days of fun and friendship at the Cruising Yachts Jeanneau Rendezvous.
This jewel-colored guy, a green Scarab Beetle, is reputed to be a harbinger of Good Luck.
He must have worked his magic, because our 9 hour crossing was tranquil and deliciously warm with blue sunny skies. It was good to be at Sea again. And even better to be tied safely to our mooring, and exploring Avalon.
Santa Catalina, The Island of Romance.
